Cataweb Online S.L. Tips On Finding Your Niche

This is from Cataweb Online S.L. for those who are just joining the party. Some people think it might be winding down, with all the early adopters already lording it over everyone else in the V.I.P. room while some of us were just let into the club. So while some people need to study SEO to get their site off the ground, these tips are for those who are just getting into the Web 2.0 biz, and don't even have a clue what they want to do there.

So why do you want to go into business online? Because you think you'll get rich quick and easy? Now get rid of that notion quick, because it's a lot of hard work to create a successful site or blog, and the work you'll have to put into it is equal to that of any other normal job. But if you really want to try out this medium, then it's suggested that you get find a small niche to conquer instead of going to battle against the giants of some big category like "weight loss".

Again, if you don't already have a product or service in mind, then you'll need to find one and that's where subscribing to Google News RSS feeds and using Google Alerts comes in.

You should first check out Amazon.com, because it's a massive resource of products in almost every market you can think of. A lot of ideas can come from browsing through there, and a good place to start is the non-fiction books and magazines section. You know that if there's a niche out there, there's some magazine or book devoted to it. Try and find one that you're interested in so that it'll be easier to work on it for you.

Found a niche you like? Good. Now's the time to keep up to date with your chosen target market by using those Google Alerts (www.google.com/alerts) mentioned earlier by entering the main keyword of your market and your email address on their form. Tweak the settings to your satisfaction and then head to Google News (www.google.com/news) and enter your keyword again. Then subscribe to the RSS feeds of those results so that you'll be up to date with what's happening in that niche.

Internet marketers consider RSS feeds their best friend, because it makes it easier to process and manage huge amounts of content from multiple sites. Use whatever RSS reader you want, or use Google Reader (www.google.com/reader) for sheer convenience, since you're already using the other Google tools. To subscribe to a feed, just enter your keyword into the Google News search field and then click the RSS icon in your address window. You can also use the link in the left sidebar if you see one and right click and copy it, then paste the link and save in Google Reader's 'add subscription' tab.

Create some folders to organize the niches and you're through with the first step in narrowing your focus on what niche to get into for your web biz. Check up on Cataweb Online S.L. for more information on what you can do next!
